The challenge

Fixatex encountered a significant challenge in the manual handling of customer bookings for their engineering services, which needed a self-serve booking portal.

Amidst their rapid growth, Fixatex managed 75 to 100 daily calls solely for scheduling electrical tests. A clear blocker to growth and scalability, this process consumed valuable time and diverted attention from more analytical or impactful tasks where human expertise could be utilised to better serve their customers.  A business case that most companies can relate to in a high-growth organisation.

The solution

We embarked on a Digital Evolution journey with Fixatex, starting with Solution Design to create a blueprint for success in harnessing this business opportunity.

Through a series of collaborative workshops, we identified their needs and crafted a solution that seamlessly integrates with their existing job management software. Our approach involved designing a user-friendly interface using our award-winning tool, VisualSpec. 

The solution was a bookings app, allowing clients to choose suitable time slots for electrical tests effortlessly. This impactful solution design project was delivered in mere days, with a clear blueprint for development, high-fidelity and low-fidelity designs, project plans and estimations. Making the ROI a no-brainer for moving forward with implementation.

With the MVP features list in hand, we commenced Agile Development, delivering a booking system that operates seamlessly with the job management platform, ensuring smooth data exchange for appointment scheduling. This comprehensive integrated system was developed in close collaboration with Fixatex and their third-party provider, achieving a swift go-live within a matter of weeks.

By thoroughly understanding Fixatex’s needs, budget, and timelines, we delivered a solution that significantly enhanced their digital presence, improved their customer experience and reclaimed numerous hours previously spent on manual bookings.

A large portion of our revenue comes from Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) programs, where we test electrical installations in properties. As we grew, our team in the office faced the challenge of managing an increasing volume of bookings and since the team handling those bookings worked standard hours, they often couldn't reach residents who would also be at work. We reached out to Geeks to design and build an online booking system and within weeks, it was integrated with our job management system. Now, residents can book and reschedule appointments at their convenience, which has not only improved our efficiency but also the customer experience. We're really pleased with the solution.
